OK...are we looking at an air pistol or a .22? And where do we try to order one?

I'd want to see one in the flesh, or an actual photograph, before I believed that picture.
I think someone must have been smoking wacky baccy.

It's a .22 and likely to be made by Chiappa for FAS. Advice from Raffaele below...
" Dear Sir,
the new FAS sporting pistol will be available end of this year
We are introducing now this new project, and we need couple of months for testing all new items.
Please have look montly our our web site

There was a shot show video from the Chiappa booth showing of the new pistol on utube. Could not find it after a short search. Possibly someone has the link.

Do you mean
this one ?
Obviously nothing like the Photoshop fantasy shown above (which is even more unbelievable than the picture released earlier this year).

Two immediate reactions:
1. My fingers can hardly wait to try pulling back the slide with those new design "ears."
2. The guy in the video reminds me of a lifetime Buick salesman on his first attempt demo-ing a Lotus.

re #1: it looks to me that the slide is actuated from in front of the trigger guard.

Maybe they're planning to market it through Nordstrom stores.

If that pistol ever sees a serial production, I'll draw my hat. If it looks like the pics, I'll eat it, too.

My bet is that Chiappa will essentially simply take over the production of the FAS SP607 without changing the design to any great extent (and a 607 is of course what is shown in the video). They might want to engineer some kind of simple safety catch to keep officialdom happy in the United States. The basic design is already very good and simply using better quality steel for the springs would go a long way towards dealing with the 607's finicky reputation. Having a choice of a heavy or light front barrel shroud would be an excellent option which would be easy to manufacture and offer to buyers. The main advantage of Chiappa taking over production is greatly improved lines of distribution, back-up and parts supply (particularly in the United States).

I imagine if it's a real product, it'll be on display at the NRA Annual Meeting in Houston which is coming up soon. If it's there, I'll take pictures and post them here. Sound like a plan?

I've just spent the last few minutes trying to visualise the type of hand for which those grips would be comfortable. The best I could imagine would be ET or one of his alien friends.
Whoever photoshop-ed that design has way too much time on his/her hands!
