Hi!
New shooter here.
Here's some really basic questions.
1) just got my first air pistol. How do I "dry fire" at home and what exactly should I do to practice at home? Do you literally just not load, leave it open and shoot with the cansiter on? Or canister off? Are there lists of dry fire drills anywhere?
2) are there drills I can do at the range/at home? Are there any book/resources with lists of drills?
Thanks!

Re: New shooter drill/dry fire questions
Read the instructions of your gun to understand how to dry fire it.
Leave the air cylinder on.
The basic premise about dry firing is to do it with the same focus as you would in training and competition. The advantage is that because there's no score- and often no target- you can better focus on specific areas of your technique (front sight focus, triggering , wrist lock, position, stamina...) without the will of scoring getting in the way.
There's a lot of dry firing in the training plans I share: https://www.olympicpistol.com/tag/dry-fire/

Re: New shooter drill/dry fire questions
Thank you! I just read the online manual so now know how to dry fire thanks! Didn't realise it's different depending on the pistol. Doh!Ramon OP wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:42 am Read the instructions of your gun to understand how to dry fire it.
