Filling Steyr AP Cylinders ?

Does anyone have/use one of the Best Fittings Steyr LP fill adapters? The description states that they are now “drilled through “ to allow for conventional bleeding of the charging system without the need to partly unscrew the reservoir whilst still under pressure.

I always get a little nervous while doing this, seems like a better idea.

Yes. We use the BEST fittings adapters for both Steyr and Walther air guns. They work fine.

This is the Steyr adapter that allows you to unscrew with cylinder without pressure on the threads-

Just to be clear, you can bleed the line pressure first and then unscrew the cylinder under no pressure?
Is your setup similar to mine? I have the Steyr supplied fill probe.

The cylinder unscrews, unpressurized, due to the design of the adapter. Less loss of air.

In re setup...No, we also use a pressure release valve in-line.

All this is rather over complicated when you can screw the Steyr Adaptor directly into the DIN thread of the SCUBA tank.

It's worked for me for the last 30ish years!

We have many different shooters using many different fill adapters. Some have QD adapters, as well. It is quite different for one shooter, using one brand of airgun, for certain.

Not everyone fills from a bottle or tank. I use one of the cheap Chinese compressors straight to the air cylinder. No trip to the dive shop!

If you can bleed the hose of that compressor there's no reason why you shouldn't use one of the BF adaptors with a foster connection, like so:

What is the name of the part that connects to the Styer fill? Does Best Fittiings carry it?

Thanks.

Are you asking about the QD (quick detach) quick coupler....

https://www.bestfittings.co.uk/shop/qui ... pler-plug/

or the DIN female adapter?

How long should it take to fill a LP50 cylinder using a AirVenturi Rovair Compressor? Is 15 minutes too long to even get an indication on the fill pressure?

Thanks for any advice on this.

My compressor shown above takes 80-90 seconds to fill my Steyr LP50 standard cylinder from 70 to 200 bar. Not familiar with your AV compressor but something seems amiss 🤔.

The best fitting adapter works very well as you loose much less air as you manically unscrew it as fast as possible and the threads are no longer under high pressure as you screw the cylinder off.

I got this cheap compressor but unfortunately it's DOA.. won't start compressing at all and I am considering hacking it..
