Standard Pistol

Post by porkchop »

Has anybody used a 1911 .22 conversion for 25 meter Standard pistol competition? I have one that has a roll trigger with 2.5 lb pull. Any disadvantages to going this route?
Thanks for any answers, Stan

Lots of US "Bullseye" (now called "Precision") competition shooters use 1911 conversions, with excellent results. Other than not starting from the 45 degree ready position, it's very similar to Standard Pistol in terms of the stages & timing.

A European Olympic style pistol will have some advantages (better & more adjustable ergonomics, lower bore-line for recoil control). As long as the 1911 grip and trigger reach suits your hand, with enough practice, there's no reason you can't shoot a 1911 conversion very well.
